Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in mid-winter and for many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year.

The design on these earrings are based on Matariki the mother of the cluster of stars. She is a healer, mother and is also viewed as a good omen. It is our personification of Matariki.
