We love to grab an idea and run with it, and that’s exactly what happened when we saw a shop for lease in our home village of Ngongotaha, Rotorua.

That ad was an opportunity for us to invigorate the village with a new store unlike they have seen before, and five weeks later our idea had bloomed and we had everyone curious and ready to come to our Grand Opening in November 2020.

We really believe you should give an idea a go, so combining our passions for interior design and gardening led to the creation of Curiosity Blooms.

Our unique tastes are reflected in Curiosity Blooms style – we have created a laid back atmosphere where you can browse our carefully curated selection of Home, Garden and Giftware, Boutique clothing and one off creations by New Zealand designers. 

Donna loves her garden, especially spring bulbs (which she can never get enough of!) and roses, indoor plants – just anything that is a plant! She has owned a gardening business for many years and worked in garden retail. Donna is passionate about plants and happy to share her wealth of knowledge.

Rach – well let’s be honest –a little more off centre! Horticulture, interior, gift and garden retail, a few years at the local paper and taxidermy as a hobby! Rach is always looking for new products, new angles and if a class is being offered instore – it will be the latest ‘thing’ whether that’s dividing Dahlias or painting pots!

Sustainability is big for us – all flowers are grown on our properties in Ngongotaha and Mamaku, picked and arranged by us. All our shipping packaging is pre-loved and it would be amazing if customers can re-use or recycle! We believe in supporting other businesses in the village. 

We are not doing retail by the rules, we make things up as we go along and that’s why we are different just like our ever changing stock!
